Thanks everyone.

The taxi fare will be at least €10.
The train station is around 8km from the airport.
There may be a bus but I'm not sure.

I can concur with the hog. Took a taxi a few months back from the airport to the train station and bailed out when he got to €8 which was 100 yards from the station but longer by car in the one way system.
I believe you can get a bus from the airport to the bus station in Faro. The bus station is a 2 minute walk to the train station. I would guess the bus would be around €4.
Whether taxi or bus it is easy.

Bus price is 1.85 into Faro and it stops at the train station, terminates at the bus station which is the stop after the train station.
When he comes out of arrivals if he looks to his right he will see the new bus stand. You can't miss it it is the place where all the Brits in hire cars appear to stop to fanny around!

Yes the fair is €1.90, I bussed it on friday. The bus stop is the far side of the taxi rank just across from arrivals exit.. Bus times via www.eva-bus.com. departure point, aeroporto, service no 16 marked Jardim on his destination
board. Bus stops 30 metres from the station entrance.
Journey time 20mins and distance about 5km. I have walked it but dont recommend it, lots of places without sidewalks, took me about an hour.
Those people heading for car park 4 looking for their hire cars, airport surrounds still a building site. People dragging suitcases across roads and over
kerbs. Recommend heading out of arrivals sticking to the airport building and heading towards the distant petrol station on the hill. On the brow of the hill cross the road to the entrance to P4. Good Luck!
