As of November this year & until 2014 Hunters will be allowed to Kill 40 Blackbirds per day they hunt.
As they hunt on Thursday - Sunday & Public Holidays there will not be any left alive by 2014!!!
The Min of Agriculture has been pressured by the Viniculture Industry to allow this because they state the Blackbird damages the grapes?

But back on topic. Many years ago the Spanish had a similar hunting spree after blaming the birds for poor crops. The birds had actually been eating the grubs that had been ruining the crops. End result, an unbalanced ecosystem and an even worse crop.
