Default Buying a van - what's important

Hi guys,
I'm trying to buy a van. What's important (from a pov of documentation, annual inspections etc)

I'm comfortable with the mechanical side of things, it's more the new Portuguese aspects of van ownership.

Thanks in advance,

Jules

Once you have found what you are looking forward it is quite normal to do all the ownership transfer paperwork at the Loja do Cidadao.. it is one of the services they offer

Many thanks for your reply.

I'm assuming MoT (Portuguese equivalent) etc is the same.

Does tax stay with the vehicle or owner (as in UK)

Thanks

Tax stays with the vehicle.. current owner should pay "this year" , you pay when up for renewal. MOT same, every year for older vehicles.

Don't forget to carry proof of ownership for anything you transport - otherwise you'll get a nice fine.

My wife was advised she even needed a fatura to transport 25kg of salt in the back of our car!!

I'm looking to get a new or nearly new Transit or VW T6 type Van or maybe a ford ranger or similar pickup type in the Algarve area. I'm looking to transport motorcycle and bikes around and to the Autodrome in Portimao. Any recommendations for good dealerships for outright purchase or lease hire (if they do this in Portugal).
