Default Best British expat communities

Hi, I’m thinking of moving out to Portugal just for a month or 2 after a recent breakup. Potentially a full time move in the future but just looking at options at the moment, I was wondering where had a lively British expat community? 31 years of age so not looking for a retirement community (whilst trying to avoid causing offence) 🤣

Why would you want ex pats? (Hate that word).

Try Lisbon, Porto, Coimbra or if the Algarve is your sort of thing, try down there. Any small town, large town.

You would need to indicate what sort of work and income you would expect to enjoy if you move out full time.

Also : what specifically has made you think of Portugal ? Some interests may be better catered for in particular parts of the country ?

If you are serious - even about just a two month break for starters, I would say start NOW learning basic Portuguese. There are online courses and also there are month long summer courses at Lisbon, Porto and Coimbra Universities. Quite good value and also I think if enrolled you qualify to stay in a Hall of Residence also good value.

...or if you are thinking more like extended holiday, hang out, party, relax in the sun, vague idea you might move in future, then just look at the classic holiday brochure locations. Unless you have a particular reason for looking at Portugal, you should also look at the Spanish coast
