Arrivals from France?
Anyone know what should happen when my brother arrives on a Ryanair plane direct from Bordeaux.
He is British passport holder, but has had residency in France for over a decade, with all necessary documents.
Question is..........will he need to join the Non EU passport control q,
Do other EU nationals have to go through any passport controls on arrival?

Last year I went to Italy from Faro for a holiday and I did not need to show my UK passport at either airport. Flying within the Schengen zone, you do not go through passport control.

Under the circumstance that a non-EU citizen enters the country without going through passport control, they are supposed by law to report their presence to the border authority within 3 days.
An exemption from this applies if staying in hotel or other accommodation required to communicate foreign guest details to the authority.
Just mentioning this in passing, for the sake of completeness. I shouldn't think many 3rd country visitors arriving via another member state to stay with friends or relatives know about or actually attempt to comply with this law, and in any case you're more likely to be able to get an audience with The Pope at the moment than one with AIMA.

I've just spent a week in the UK, and at passport control on my return, the officer said that I could have used the EU line.
Does this mean that the rules have recently changed, or, more likely, that each officer has his own interpretation?

I'm fairly sure it's the latter having been turned away from the EU line.

In case it helps, we just landed from a layover in Zurich. We went through immigration in Zurich before taking the next flight (we could have flown anywhere as they didn't ask to see our next boarding pass), and we showed them our Portuguese residency so they would not stamp our British passports. Then we flew Zurich to Lisbon with no immigration at all on the Portuguese end.
