Default Any Smartphone users with knowledge about Whatsapp?

I have a new android phone and I'm trying to move Whatsapp history from an old android phone. (When I say I'm trying, I mean my husband who is usually good at this sort of thing!!!). Anyway, he's followed insructions, QR code, 'Something went wrong' error message come up, he's put the history in the Cloud or something, but when he logs into the Google account it can't see it, even though he can.

He's tried Whatsapp help, but it seems he has to put in a US number to get the message to them. He has steam coming from his ears and has almost given up. Anyone else had this problem and overcome it? As always, thanks in advance of help.

I had to do the same with new android phone a month ago.
Because the older phone was still fine, albeit the battery was getting worn out, I managed to get the same Whasapp on the new phone, so it is a mirror of the old one, history and all.
I did look at complete removal and moving o new one only, butg thought I wold probably bugger it up so took the option I did.
Pretty simple if you follow any of the Youtube video instructions.
There is only one downside that I can see, and that is that you have to log into your account on the original phone once every 2 weeks, in order to keep the mirror going.
But it has solved my problem in the meantime before I attempt to have it only on the new phone.

Not sure if this helps, but if you have a Windows PC available, you might have a look at Whatsapp for PC if you're not already using it.

I use this daily, recently migrated Android phones, and I have all my stuff - chats and call history - going back to 2019 (when I first started using Whatsapp) on my new phone.

Thanks, he's tried this and it didn't work. It's good that it's worked for you though.

Many thanks for this.My old phone sounds like it's in the same state as yours. He's going to look into it after a sleep, if it doesn't work now both phones might head through a janela. If you find a more permanant solution, do let me know. Thanks.

Tried everything and lost all the history anyway. It's not the end of the world, it's just useful to look back and see when certain events happened.

Well rats, sorry to hear that

Out of interest, did you port the SIM card from the outgoing 'phone to the new one?
