Hi All
I'm visiting Calgary next week and sitting both the APCAT and ACT during my stay.
Has anyone got any advice on these tests or what I could revise up on?
Also if anyone has any practical advice on the panel interview I would be greatful, would I be right to assume it will be very similer to my board when I joined the UK service?
Thanks in advance
Paul

Hi Paul,
We are currently over in the UK participating in the Emigrate shows, or it would have been lovely meeting up with you in Calgary.
I know that you take the written tests next week but here is some info. There are obviously examples of the written tests on CPS web site, but what I did was to subscribe to Police Prep (www.policeprep.com ) who are a company who will send you many practise APCAT and ACT tests via the internet for you to practise on. I know time is short for you, but it is never too late to start practising!
Re the panel interview, I found this interview to be quite relaxing as long as you are prepared and have your scenarios to mind. The desired competencies are found on the CPS web site under "panel interview" and you must think of various situations that you haver been in and dealt with which evidences the competancies. The format that they want the reply in is also explained on the CPS web site.
Hope this helps, Eddie & Julie.

did mine on saturday, you'll be fine!
I am not the best student, and didn't do well at school, but got a 94 ACT and a 96 on the APCAT.
Just try and work through the questions at a good pace, don't linger on a hard one, or your time is up!
I had about 15 minutes left on the APCAT, and personally found the APCAT easier than the ACT.
brush up on your grammar (glad I did). and I studied the newton halls police book, which really helped!, but it is hard to find.
as per interview, you'll be fine!
just use the STARS format for each answer, and have at least 2 answers per competency.
I am crap at interviews and passed, so I am sure you will pass with flying colours!
good luck!
