Re: EDMONTON POLICE SERVICE
i hate to be the bearer of bad news, but better you know, this is no way near enough.
stu arc above had intensive training for several months with a trainer at a gym with a specific programme to get him through and he only just passed, which i hope he does not mind me mentioning. i use stu as a current up to date example so you do not think i am exaggerating. i would strongly advise you seek help from a trainer at a gym, show them what you need to do and they will assist, going for a 2 mile jog once a day is nowhere near enough i am afraid, you are kidding yourself and it will just turn into a very expensive short holiday.

How does he get PR with no proir policing experience?
To be eligible for nomination for Pr via the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program, you need 3 years experience out of the last 5 in the particular field of work you will be taking up. Unless you something I dont stewie_griffin...

Re: EDMONTON POLICE SERVICE
I am new to this site and apologise if these questions have already been answered. I have only started to consider moving away from NI, I am 21 and have 2 years service in the psni, having read some information I believe I need to have 3 years - is this before I apply? I have heard it can take 1 year to transfer and by this time I will have my 3 years service.
also if I get in does that mean my partner can come as well, by then we will be married?
Is there anyone who has transferred or about to transfer from the psni and how have you found it compared to our testing/ training?
I would be greatful for any information!

Re: EDMONTON POLICE SERVICE
ok then well i have been in education for the last 3 years but have had a part-time job for most of that time about 2 1/2 years, does this count towards work experience or does it have to be full-time work? have looked @ join eps and has answered alot of questions, thanks, but can anyone give some info on there personal views like hows the work life, personal benefits of moving to edmonton, good reasons to join or bad etc, as this gives me of an idea of things. like the website is good and covers alot of ground but it would be nice get some other peoples views. also how hard would the fitness aspects be? im reasonably fit and would like to have an idea of what type of training i should do to pass the pare test, by the sound of things on here there seems to be a real emphasis on this aspect.
any other info or advice is welcome.
thanks

That way, you can get 'hands on' with many aspects of life within EDMONTON. A really enjoyed it there during my stay, but did not get to see many parts of the city as I was not driving.
Best wishes with your endeavours though.

wow, thanks for that contribution, i take it you are a long serving former police officer with international policing experience, as well experience in recruiting and police training that would put you in a position to comment. then again you could just be a knob, who knows?

Is recruitment open all year round or is it only at selected times?

Re: EDMONTON POLICE SERVICE
if you are serious about a career in policing, then contact your local recruiting office, fill in the paperwork and it can be arranged. if you are after a quick jolly looking at the flashing blue lights hoping to star in 'COPS', then don't bother.
why is this bit of the site attracting trolls at the moment, or is it just me.

Best way Dan would be to visit the city, view a few areas and houses and arrange a ride along with a serving member of the EPS.

Re: EDMONTON POLICE SERVICE
Call me soft, say i should have tried it. Im sure people will, but it could have been a very expensive experiment when, if we are honest, we like the life we have - so what was i looking for, something better? big ask. Like you said, if your not 100 % commited at the sart, its doomed.
Thanks for all your help though mate. Miserable sod.
