Rumour Control being added to weekly at the moment. The short course looks very likely - with potential dates for May and November. I believe they are currently gathering the numbers of interested applicants at the moment.

Length of course 'rumours' seem to mention 6, 8 and 12 weeks. I know there is a lot that could be cut out, but 6, and even 8 weeks seems very ambitious. I could see that 10 or 12 weeks would be good.

The SCT stuff already seems to have been cut by a few days since the July course - the September course are doing fewer days ....

Go for the short course.
Go for the short course.
Go for the short course.

(subliminal, and subtle, I thought ..... )

I too am on the March 10th course. I've been living in Calgary for nearly 3 years, (whilst on a career break from a UK Force), and have recently decided to go for the CPS. Are you guys doing the orientation day on March 6th? See you on the 10th!!
Sarah

Hello Sarah, am I right in thinking you are applying for the CPS after taking a career break from your UK force? I would be interested to know how you found it as I was recently accepted into CPS and looking at starting classes late 08/09.

Hello all,

I am due to start on the 28th April CPS course, and was asked whether I would like to try the shorter course.I declined,as I don't like the sound of being a spare part in the station office while waiting for it.Also,I am quite looking forward to the physical side of training and more regular hours while I try to settle in Calgary.

Hi all I,m a new member to the forum and a serving officer of 16 yrs in Scotland.
Have been following your threads for several months and seriously considering applying.
For personal reasons(kids schooling mainly) I would prefer to wait till after the summer the website indicates they will be recruiting between 200-350 officers this year alone.
Does anyone know how often the intakes are running so I can guage when to expect to be invited for testing if succesful with application.
Thanks

Hi - I would apply now - it doesn't matter how long the process takes in a way - just muddle your way through it, and then choose when you want to move over, ie, whenever it suits you (within reason!).

Going via the PNP process seems to average around 18 months - some can do it in about a year, others are nearer 20 months in total from that initial application to actually moving over.

So - say you apply in the next month - you may be invited over to do testing, for example in April/May/June - but you choose to come in July.
If you successfully pass everything you might hear back in say, Sept, then the bureaucracy starts, background checks, visa paperwork back and forth, medicals, etc - you might be 'ready' to go in, say Jan-March 09 at a good guess. Ok - sometimes, everything falls into place and it could all whistle through mega quickly - but at the end of the day, you still choose a start date that fits in with you and your family.

Good luck with everything :)
