Default Vaccinations

Hi all

I've just accepted a job in Manila and will be moving over in Jan with family following in April.

Does anyone have any experience in which vaccinations I need? The doc says typhoid and hep a. The wife is concerned re malaria and the kids....I'm pretty ignorant on all this!

Cheers

There used to be a great booklet called "The Preservation of Health in Tropical Climates" I got mine from the Ministry of Overseas Development 40 years ago. I wonder if it is still in print. Aha - here it is -

Just make sure your normal childhood vaccinations are up to date, tetenus etc. Plus have Typhoid and Hep A. There are only oral meds for maleria and they are not nice so precaution is best, again rabies is best left until you are bitten and you think you may be compromised. If you are in the Philippines for any length of time the local flu jab could be useful, the UK one will not work.
