On vacation in Manila, but badly want to stay!
Hi forum,
I'm full Filipino, born and bred in London, UK. It's only my second visit to Phils in the last 10 years and the first time I've spent any considerable time in Manila. I'm in the Makati area, near Greenbelt, and it's great here.
I'm going back in a couple of days, but want to come back asap and stay for an extended period to really learn the culture and history of my country, and so forth... (I don't even speak Tagalog!)
I'm looking for ways to fund my extended stay but don't know where to start. I've been looking for basic remote working jobs, I've been studying internet marketing for about a year so know a thing or two about marketing and SEO, but I'm looking for a way I can generate a modest foreign income (£'s) to help support myself when I'm out here. I say modest, but it still has to be pretty sizeable.
Anyway, might not happen, but it's something that interests me. May just have to go back to work in England and forget about this idea, but if anyone out there has done what I want to do, it would be great to hear from you!

You could try on-line English teaching. I've read on another forum about a few guys who do it from the Philippines. You won't be teaching Filipinos, but more likely Japanese or koreans.
You say you are full Filipino, but do you have any sort of paperwork stating that, because if so you maybe be able to claim your Filipino nationality. If you were born of Filipino parents you may have the right, but I'm not sure. The Embassy in London will be able to tell you.

The tourist industry can be lucrative. Living in a 3rd world country, paying for 3rd world services and goods, but having guests paying somewhere between 1st and 3rd world prices. Lots of pitfalls but if you can work in the hospitality industry then there is potential there.
Another possibility is working for a US/UK/EU company that offers secondments to the Philippines. A long shot and likely only temporary but people have been there and done it.
