why is it you all know better. a friend of mine used to load from a warehouse in Kent to Italy they also used to do deep sea ie containers , so he got a good price 700 pounds to manila but in his name , guess who wanted import duty which doubled his cost............when 15 years ago............ i have never paid anything apart from the shipping cost...............do not use a UK company that needs a Philippine agent

Dear Mr sir from Wiltshire

[I][B]1 x Bicycle, 2 x Computers 1 x Monitor, 1 x Electric Guitar and small amp, 1 x Accoustic Guitar, 1 x electric wok 1 x DVD recorder and about 400 DVD's, 1 suitcase, 1 x small DAB Radio

Copy all your computor personal stuff into small memory plugs (ones that plug into your pc front sockets) and bring them with you. 2 guitars also bring with you. DVDs also. Sell off the rest because available here and most importantly will have technical support.

We came with the SRRV that included 5 cu meter of free imported personal belongings, but we had to pay bribe money at the migration (8,000 office and the store place) in Manila before we could take it away.

Good luck and do not rush into anything until you are sure of your future together. The Philippines can be a tricky place and even us old buggers can make mistakes.

Hi Sunnydays

I have looked at the SRRV but why do I need to use them and pay £7,000 or more when I will be able to get the 13A Visa (Marriage Visa). I know what I am coming to so there are no surprises for me. All I am looking for is the best and cheapest way to get my small amount of gear across.

If there are none then I will obviously purchase when I arrive but some of my items have a little bit of sentimental value

Anyway, many thanks for the input. I appreciate any input that everyone has given so far

The more you read on these forums by experiences from fellow retirees, the better you are for actually living here,.....some good some not so but all in the effort of helping out.

The 13A is with your Filipino wife and if she wishes she can claim you as an undesirable or wife beater whatever and get your visa cancelled. How would that suit if you lost everything, the legal system is favoured to the Filipino so no help from them.

The SRRV allows you to live here independent of the wife and has some benefits over the other visas. You could lease a plot of land for 25 years and build a house on it that you could sell off if need be and move on....whatever.

Post your baggage enquiry in the yahoo Brit club group, they are very helpful and will be local to your area when you move.

regards

Mr Yorkshireman;)

Hi Sunnydays

Again thanks for the info.

I have been reading up on all types of Visa's for the Philippines and understand the pro's and con's of most. I have known my fiance for almost 3 years. I have also made many enquiries with the Embassy here in the UK as many different ex-pat sites seem to have differing view/opinions on the ways of getting a visa.

Must admit though this site has been the best for me so far is very close in all aspects to what the Embassy in London and the BoI in Manila have said. However I still welcome any views, points and opinions as this will certainly help.

Thanks for the info re: Yahoo

I'm not sure I'd agree with that sentiment. If you do split from your wife there is not immediate reason why the 13a will be cancelled. Also build a nice house on leasted land and see how long the lease lasts before the landlord wants to move in. You could alway build the house on wheels I suppose.

Hello Gazza'd

My future wife is in the process of buying a "new build" in Legaspi but I will obviously be paying for it.

That's a nice area, we passed through there this year and stopped a couple of nights in Dalaga.
