Post Shipping Items & Customs Charges

Hi all

Can anyone give me a company that will carry the following items at a reasonable price to the Philippines please. The one I have had provided costs an arm and a leg (£4,400) and I find this very expensive for what is being moved

1 x Bicycle, 2 x Computers 1 x Monitor, 1 x Electric Guitar and small amp, 1 x Accoustic Guitar, 1 x electric wok 1 x DVD recorder and about 400 DVD's, 1 suitcase, 1 x small DAB Radio

Any ideas of the usual Customs importation charges for such a small amount

Many thanks for replies in advance

I would suggest Farochilen 10 Hogarth Road, SW5 0PT.

I used them when in the UK.

They have been trading for a very long time.

Hi Tropicofcancer

Thanks for the info but having googled the company they do not have a website and currently there is no telephone number (maybe a busy line but ...) and I have found many complaints concerning late arrival, damage and loss of items, rude and ignorant Customer Service staff. Oviously I will investigate further but if so I will give these a miss.

I noted that when I came back to the site I have a PM but when I try to access it is states that any more than 3 posts PM's are banned

Wiltshireman it was from me, and contained a few additional details; which would be of interest to you. As to why I suggested this firm.
Our group in UK were big users of this firm, more than sixty crates a year. It was one of two firms, that none of us had any trouble with. I have been to their premises on several occasions.
No you must go with a firm that you are happy with. No doubt others will come along with recommendations. Your main problem is not living near to the dispatch places. I shipped my entire household contents in 2001, the cost including customs duties and insurance was little over £4000 to Cebu.
I also included several tins of baked beans, crisps etc.
That was with another firm, as Farochilen deemed I lived too far away, and it was Cebu.

Hi
Like you, I am moving to the Philippines for work.
Will arrive in early January.
I used Crown Relocation who were competitive but came in at the price you were quoted above.
Looking to meet up with fellow Brits for some socialising etc when I arrive so if you are going to be in manila then it would be good to meet fellow Brits!
Be good to hear back from you.
Regards

Hi Scotsman 924

£4k plus seems a lot to pay for just the items I have listed, maybe I will sell them off before I move and purchase all new when I arrive. This may seem the cheapest option.

I will be moving to Legaspi City in the Albay region where my future wife lives along with her children.

For those items ten years ago, it would have cost under £400. When the cost of a 20' shipping container was £3000. You are being quoted for house contents shipping.
Now I have been outside the UK for ten years, but whilst there, there were varying standard options on crates. Whereby you pick the size you need. From a tea chest, through many larger sizes up to the largest sizes which included 7' x 7' x 6+', 7' x 7' x 10', and 7' x 7' x 20' (£3000), with 7' x 7' x 40' to special order.

A copy of the Filipino or Pahayagan will have several ads for shipping companies to the Philippines. Remember the further from Manila you are, and the provinces cost more.

Allfreight are another company that ship out to Philippines. They shipped out my entire house contents to Cebu twelve years ago, but I had to pay duty on them. I didn't have a 13A visa then. The owner lives in Manila and his son runs the UK side. LBC are their agents in Philippines for the provinces.

Unit 3, Hamm Moor Lane, Addlestone, Surrey. KT15 2SD.
Tel: 01932 853344
e-mail: [email protected]

I have no connection with either firm, but have used them both, and have no complaints. Allfreight do smaller packages. They use stiff cardboard containers as opposed to the normal wood and ply.

Now this is a question that came up last year and the main reason i joined. i have used High lite express 2 times first for 2 lift vans then for 6 bb box never a problem . Do not use a British company that has an agent in The Philippines or you will pay through the nose and all sorts of add ons like import duty. Farolichen or L BC should be ok aswell. Your only looking at a few boxe,s .Phone all first. Do it as the locals and i do. Just dont ship a car or motorbike

Highlite express are based in North London but its possible its still a lot cheaper to van your goods to them. Wiltshire to London 200 pounds maybe more or less. if you have the time you will cut your cost

just thinking what i would do . get in touch with courier exchange and ask to post your load as a back load from Wiltshire to North London so anyone tipping in Wales or West Country can pick it up on the way home and if you can offer open hours for pick up and a cup of tea. you may even get it picked up for 50 pound plus high lite express 4 to 500. still a bit less than 4400 although you will need to box and wrap all first

Keep on sending and many thanks so far for the help and info. Very much appreciated
