Re: NCR llockdown
R. Thanks.
No I don't expect a problem but I will double check with the PNP which is only 5 minutes walk away. |
Re: NCR llockdown
Yesterday 1,893 new cases bringing the official total now to nearly 428k. Labs not reporting 11. The DOH said that the day before there were 1,553 positives from nearly 28k tests. So a positivity rate of 5.6% . A recent percentage of at least 82. Tests coming along up at 33.4k.
Top locations: https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/british...17df976a88.jpg Deaths at a high 79, although 18 were RDs. Possibly still some typhoon effects on infections but probably more due to festive season preparation effects. As has just been seen in the US with Thanksgiving people here may find it difficult to moderate their celebrations ,especially with their experiences over the past 9 months. Last month it was announced that Xmas parties are prohibited in GCQ areas like Manila (it's not clear about MGCQ areas such as 4A) So far there are no announcements on restrictions about different households mixing. I don't expect any. |
Re: NCR llockdown
The DOH announced yesterday over 2k new cases:
https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/british...61df337b7c.jpg Note the percentage of asymptomatic cases is only 7.4%. DOH daily figures are usually around 10%. US studies quote figures of up to 40% in the population. Like elsewhere they are not being found by testing. After a number of days with the date of testing stated as one day earlier the DOH now reverting to the same day as the announcement. Let's see if this continues and will show it was just an error. If so we can say that a low 71% of positives from nearly 24k tests were recent cases. Tests coming are at 24.7k. Top 5 locations: https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/british...e2e2d13649.jpg More detail tomorrow. Deaths at 40 with 8 RDs. Information courtesy of the Manila Bulletin. The only online news site to carry that information. The premier news sites ABS-CBN and GMA have very brief reports some days and yesterday was one of them. Rappler was consistently good but now seems to have given up. All news sites are shy of delving too much into the numbers given out by the DOH. Especially on the creeping up of the covid death rate here, and the 1k or so miss-classified recovery deaths. Yesterday was a mass recovery day, with 10,6k announced. Active cases 22,967, down from 24.2k a week ago. Critical 1,401. Up 19 on yesterday. More location detail on November 28 cases: https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/british...5fc5b4cd56.jpg Plus: MIMORPA 28, Other Mindanao 46, Cagayan 10 For NCR cities: https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/british...2aa6f182e5.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/british...6b15680d7c.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/british...13d7e418ca.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/british...9548428320.jpg Again a large number of cases from Davao followed by smaller numbers in four NCR cities. Then a wide provincial spread of places with less than 40 cases. Last week: Slightly more cases than the week before: 10,943 compared with 10,543. The R number just under the magic 1.0 at 0.99. For the NCR at 0,97. Both of these estimates too close to 1.0 to be complacent. It seems that despite all the restrictions over the last 9 months the outbreak here is not yet close to being under control. And as has been seen in other countries there is a good chance of the recent levelling of cases turning up into another wave. This time also affecting a number of areas outside of the NCR epicenter. HI.....cases they are increasing now.Well over 400,000 in total, but nothing on say,Iran, for example, who have close on 1,000,000...Can we believe the Iranian figures??...Could there be a Higher Toller in charge of official stats there....??

It begs the question...."Higher Toller...How Many!!" Like many authoritarian regimes around the world they've likely greatly unreported the virus. China famously did at first then was forced to report only after it had spread abroad. from Wuhan .to the Philippines amongst other countries. Iran high death rate at 5%, Like here a low testing rate at 73k per million. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/british...8f1ad4e3eb.jpg From the BBC https://www.bbc.com/news/world-51235105 Indications of under reporting are low testing and country-wide spread despite lockdowns and travel restrictions. Why are there hotpots here now in Mindanao? Excess death studies would show it eventually but these types of regimes do not encourage them. |
Re: NCR llockdown
Yesterday 1,773 new cases with 11 labs not reporting. The DOH now back to the 29th when they report 959 positives out of 18.5k tests done, a 5.2% positive rate. The question is were positives found and tests done on the 30th? Yesterday it seems there were on the 29th. So all we can say is that at least 54% were recent. Tests coming along at 22.5k.
Top 5 locations: https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/british...ea8abd1aa4.jpg More detail tomorrow. Deaths 19 with 6 of them RDs. 1,401 critical (unchanged). Re: NCR llockdown
Another 1,298 announced. But 15 labs not reporting. Only 77% recent at least. Positivity at 5.7%. from 17.6k tests. Tests in the pipeline low at 18.7k.
Top 5 locations were: https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/british...afdc441642.jpg More detail tomorrow, Deaths at 27 with 9 of them RDs. One death now an active case. Critical down 12 to 1,389. Finally DOH figures for the pandemic here by month: https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/british...fd880b56a2.jpg Low testing in the early months leading to low case figures. Deaths following cases with a lag. So cases now only a few thousand less than they were back in July. After which economic re-opening brought much higher figures for 3 months. Could happen again over the next few months aided by public fatigue with restrictions, festive season, regional spread and lowered testing. On the plus side there is more knowledge about how to combat the virus in Philippine conditions and some improvements in treatment. Although some smaller regional hospitals may become too full and may not be able to implement them. I also wonder about the DOH seeming to be a touch complacent with vaccines on the horizon. |
Re: NCR llockdown
Yesterday 1,438 new cases found from 22.5k tests., 11 labs did not report but results were only 66% recent. Testing volume coming at 25.4k.

Another showing for Las Pinas. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/british...9f92e8c4a2.jpg Two N. Luzon areas leading. Region 4A provinces less prominent. No Cavite for a change. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/british...66e09db6c9.jpg NCR cities 5 out of top ten. Benguet 3 positions. ABS-CBN to their credit have produced and published this assessment of where the country is with covid now, Pity It won't reach the mainstream media. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/british...08a71d4edb.jpg Recoveries dominate..the Philippines has a young population, stronger immune systems, but long term effects are a concern and not yet fully understood. The line of deaths does not look significant, but we have a relatively high case fatality rate here .A high proportion of deaths due to many not being admitted to hospital for treatment: https://newsinfo.inquirer.net/134573...ospitals-duque https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/british...b9a7315f9c.jpg Testing very erratic, weather events and disputes explain some of that. A downward trend lately. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/british...44177b69c5.jpg Testing can be done in different regions from the region of residence, but the extent of dominance of Manila testing surprised me. It is still the main epicenter but as half the country's population is elsewhere testing seems to be much too low in those presently less affected regions. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/british...b3bd4af437.jpg The labs not where the positivity rates are highest either have small capacity or are just not able to be easily used? https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/british...12e889ac4d.jpg Two regions..Cagayan Valley and Davao in the danger zone of ICU beds and vacancies. Many regions with small numbers of beds. So while cases for the whole country have been on a welcome downward trend flareups in some regions, which have too low testing given their higher positivity and poor health facilities, are a worry. The virus is not beaten in the NCR either, it is still the epicenter and capable of spikes or a second wave. For more read the whole article: https://news.abs-cbn.com/spotlight/1...ions-need-help |

Re: NCR llockdown
The DOH reported the lowest number of new cases yesterday since July 14 at 934. Although 11 labs not reporting may have affected that. They also report that testing found 1,197 positives out of 25.7k tests conducted. Positivity at 4.7%. Why then they only announce 1934 cases is not explained. Tests coming along are on a slightly higher 30.9k individuals.

A much higher 1,733 cases announced yesterday, even with 15 labs not reporting. Recent cases 66% from 1,142 positives out of 24.8k tested. Tests on the way at 28.9k.

Re: NCR llockdown
Yesterday 1,768 new cases with 12 labs not reporting. Recent were 62% from 23.9k tests. Positivity 4.6%. Tests on the way 29.8k. Testing seems to be settling at daily figures between 20k and 30k despite the big increase in the number of labs. As positivity only averages just under 5% nationally more testing should be happening in some regions.

As the commentator says the Philippines is seemingly now doing much better than its neighbours, but if you look at their recent tracks (and the latest surges in European countries) you will see sharp trend reversals. |
Re: NCR llockdown
Yesterday the DOH announced another 1,574 infections but with 10 or 11 labs not reporting. Conflicting detail but yesterday GMA, who often give the most detail, did not report. Positives were 758 out of 17.6k tests so positivity 4.3%. Recent cases only 48%. Tests on the way 23.5k.
