Default Living and working in Manila

What is it like for a single western man in his late 30s to live and work in Manila? Salary would be around the $150k USD benchmark plus housing, flights, other benefits. Employer is a major global company. He would supervise a large team of Filipinos. He is also gay and is not sexually interested in Asians but happy to have them as friends.

What kind of lifestyle can he reasonably expect to have?

i think any person or family on that package would have more of a great lifestyle than the local employees will have. As for personal lifestyle it is what you choose to make of it

On that sort of package you would be comfortable anywhere. Presumably dxb indicates you are in Dubai ? Working with Filippinos in their own country is not the same as working with Filippino Expats. If you have not worked with a foreign crew before you need a great level of compassion and understanding.

That is a very good salary, especially as it includes accommodation.
Gays are very welcome here so you should have no trouble making friends with your staff and coworkers. In the workplace you should not receive any discrimination. In general gays are respected as they are seen to be generally highly intelligent and work well with both males and females.
Filipinos work hard and work long hours but are also very sociable and as their boss you may be expected to treat them when going out (which might just be once a month or less frequently), but on your salary that would not be a problem.
It might be worth visiting Philippines to check it out for yourself, but you could easily live very comfortably on a fraction of that salary, so could put away a lot in savings whilst living like a king.
I don't know anything about nightlife in Manila or whatever and you obviously need to think about traffic and other issues, but you have a very good offer there in my opinion.

On that salary you are laughing. It is plenty to live in the nicest condos in Makati and your social life will be awesome, you can find whatever you want. Don't worry about homophobia. It is a very open society.

One word of advice, traffic in Manila is hideous. Think carefully where you stay in comparison to where you work.

You will be living a very comfortable lifestyle with that salary. It's pretty affordable to live here even in the nice places. Only problem is that rent can get a bit expensive sometimes (depending what area) but everything else is 'cheap' relative to that salary.
