Default Good Car Insurance company

Morning BE friends.

I have purchased another car and am looking for recommendations for a good insurance company to take out comprehensive insurance with.

It's not easy getting online quotes here , so personal experiences seem the best way forward.

I have a quote from Sterling Insurance for just over 8K for comprehensive including own vehicle damage, property, public liability and passenger liability.
Have used MAPFRE Insular previously but thought that this time I'd do it the British way and get some alternatives!

thanks in advance for any ideas.

In the past had a number of cars comprehensively insured with Standard for quite a few years. They did settle two or three claims reasonably well, just the annoying "new parts contribution" deduction which I assume must be standard practice here. All three vehicles now just on 3rd party cover - one over 20 years old, another 12 years old so they're now too old for fully comp. The third is only 7 years old, but have decided to take a risk and save the additional premium.

Thanks for that Raffin. This one is 5 years old so will get comp for a year or so then just stick to the basic insurance.
