Thanks for that, I had not thought of going via an ASEAN country. As for me I am fully suited and booted regarding residency visa here.

Could she just leave the Philippines on her Philippine passport with no UK visa by showing her British passport.
Not sure how this works but if she entered on her British passport she may have come in as a Balikbayan so she could have overstayed for 8 years. I suppose the question is was she a dual citizen before she re-entered the Philippines.

Yes.

I don't think her pocket money will stretch to 8 years worth of fines.

I am shortly about to leave the Phils on the 3 yr visa run and return shortly after. My lovely lady wants to accompany me (perhaps to make sure I do not escape!). I have heard stories of Filipinas not being permitted to leave the Philippines for various reasons. Now she does have a current passport which was used when she worked in Kuwait and she will have a return ticket. She is slightly concerned that she does not have a birth certificate with her correct details which as you know is common here.

Can anyone foresee any problems? Malaysia is the most probable destination.

Many thanks!
Before my wife was a dual citizen, we did a trip to Japan. She needed NBI clearance for travel to Japan, and had to take a CFO going to Japan training class and receive a certification in her passport. It was about a month of planning for a 4 day trip!
