Default Davao and durian

Just curious but I'm a big fan of durian and I found out how Davao in the PPPs is famous for it . I googled it and lo and behold there is even a durian hotel in the city !! So , , I was wondering , are any users of the forum into it too ? Is Davao a nice place etc ?

If I was going to go the PPPs then it would be the 1st place I would go to .

In case nobody answers, Penang is also famous for Durians. The season is around June time I think, when the whole world and his mother seems to be eating the stinky stuff You can read here:

Not sure there's too many posters on here from Davao, which is a pity.

My wife is from Davao, and we have a home there. You're right about the Durian, there is even a giant one outside the airport to welcome you. By the way the Durian Hotel has been shut for a number of years, and is in an area due to be turned into yet another mall.

Davao itself is quieter than Manila, but also a lot safer, mainly due to the mayors policing policies. There are a number of tourist activities available, and the nightlife is pretty good. Just off the coast from Davao is Samal Island, which has a number of resort type hotels.

If you're off to Davao anytime, let me know, and I can give you some more pointers

If you're on the beach, could jump in the sea afterwards to cool off

At the moment you can fly direct to Davao from Singapore. All other flights are via Manila or Cebu with Philippines Air or Cebu Pacific

There was a Japanese scientific study on this and indeed durian does affect the way the body works in dealing with alcohol . It stops the body's ability to break down the alcohol and remove it from the system . They found that only if you had high quantities of booze ( probably spirits because higher concentration ) would it be dangerous . There's a link here :

On a personal note I find that a few beers and a few segments go together really well . I love it . It gives you a nicely full feeling . Don't go chatting up the ladies though as the combination probably doesn't do your breath any favours .

I've never had any problems and I quite like the warm sensation inside .
