Any advice - Manila
Hi
I know this will sound a strange one, but here goes
I'm from the UK and have been in contact with a company in Manila about doing a Casino Croupier course which would last roughly a month & half. I know it's a long way just to do a course, but I'm bored to tears here. Eventually I would like to opportunity to work in Phils once I've got the training.
I'm aware that it could take a while to find the right job, so I was just wondering if it's possible to look for any other kind of work such as call centers in the mean time? Can any one advise me.
Cheers

Gaz why dont you do a course in carpentry, bricklaying, shuttering, plumbing, painting & decorating, plastering, tiling, roofing, or just plain old labouring then you could hedge your chances rather than rely on one source ?

I'm not really interested in doing any of those trades. I've been doing manual labouring jobs for years now. I'm sick of it.... lol
Manila wasn't the only option I had to do the course. I'm just finding it easier to get on a course over-seas, but if the opportunity came up to work in Manila then great, but otherwise I could move on to a different country. Always wanted to work in Asia. That's why I want to do the course. The freedom to move on!!

What do you know about the company offering the course? Are the resultant qualifications globally recognised? Is there a big call for foreigners to work in the casinos in The Peens? And why would they pay a foreigner to work in a call centre when they can pay their own people peanuts?
I'm sure you've done your homework and know more than you've put on here but, TBH, on first reading it sounds well dodgy.

The company is Pagcor - Its the "Philippine Amusement Gaming Corparation"... I've already checked - its authorized by the government and you get a certificate which is recognised worldwide. But like you say, I'm not sure if there is a big call for foreign workers. That's what I'm trying to find out really.
Sherpa... the idea of standing infront of a class teaching english terrifies me.. haha
