Two years?!
Just having a quick look at the site after a prolonged period of absence, and thought I'd post my two year update.
Hubby and I arrived two years ago on 22 Feb from Liverpool, and after some speed bumps, all is going well.
I came over with a job offer as a nurse and I'm still in the same job in a travel clinic in Auckland. Hubby took a while to find a job he likes, but has been in his current job since October and loves it.
Our two doggies have settled in brilliantly.
The second year was harder than the first, and we've had a few personal problems, but things are now looking up. We came over with just two bags and have literally started again from nothing, so looking back we've achieved a lot. We're renting, and probably always will be, but that's OK. We have furnished a whole two bedroom town house and bought a car. Our life is simple, but good. The weather is amazing...evenings are spent dog walking in Cornwall Park, weekends are for barbies and a couple of beers in our small courtyard.
The highlight was my parents visiting for 3 weeks in January....their first long haul flights, and although they hated the journey, they loved NZ and are now back in the UK saving up for their next trip over.
We're just about the apply to have our travel conditions renewed and cannot imagine living back in the UK.
So that's it. Thank you to everyone who offered advice and helped us start our new lives in NZ.

Re: Two years?!
glad things are going well for you now. Shame it took so long for you OH to find a job he likes but got there in the end and sure it has made a positive difference on how you live day to day.
