you should eventually receive a card similar to your NMC card saying that you are registered with PIN no. etc.
You may also receive an information pack. When I recently renewed my NSW registration all I got was the card.
Presumably you only get the pack on first registration. When I registered in QLD a couple of years ago I only got a letter acknowledging my registration.
I assume each state does it differently.
Hope every thing is going OK for you
Best wishes

Hi all,
my name is Marie and I am hoping to go to Perth by the end of the year even though I haven't started my application yet!
I need to renew my WA registration as I worked there 14 years ago while on a working holiday visa.
I am a respiratory nurse specialist so not really sure what opportunties there are in WA. I was in ITU so will work there if I have to.
I nearly had a heart attack when the points changed to 120!
I will be 40 next month (enough to give anyone a fright) so will loose 5 points. Have decided that I'll have to get a job offer. Anyone else doing this?
Good luck to you all.

Arlene,
I sent my application to NBSA on the 15th March, which they received on the 23rd. I emailed them on the 20th April and was told that they are extremely busy at the moment and that registration normally takes between 1-2 months at the moment and that I would hear from them by post if I had been successful. We were hoping to be SA by September, but unless things quicken, I can't see that happening.
Good luck

So what type of nurse is everyone?
where and when are you going to Oz?
At what stage are you in the application process?
I'm really pleased to see this forum!

hi all
My name is Jayne and I am a pyschiatric nurse mainly specialising in care of elderly. I am also 40 and luckily have a sister in Sydney who can sponsor me. I had my skills assessed by anc in April and submitted my Australian sponsored visa on April 16. Unfortunately I didn't realise I should have registered with nsw board first but I posted my assessment form in Feb before I found this site. Anyway I'm really looking forward to moving to oz and hope to be there by the end of the year. My sister is also a nurse and has lived in Oz for 11 years so her experience will be really helpful.
Good Luck to you all

Hi
I'm Andrea and I'm a school nurse at the moment. Not sure they have these anywhere else though!
I applied just before the deadline for the points went up and am hoping I was in time. DIMIA have debited my account so I assume it should be ok.
Does anyone have any idea how long processing is taking at the moment? My agent says 6-8 months but I'm hoping he's got that wrong!
Nothing to do but wait now!
Good luck to everyone.

nursing aus
hi, i'm Ruth and myself and my family are currently in the process of applying for pr for aus. I'ts a long slow process. I got my nursing qualification verified back in oct 2003 by ANC and we then put in our application for permanent residency via an agency. Initially DIMIA in Adelaide lost the whole application so this had to be re-submitted (we did'nt realise they had lost it till jan 04) and we are still waiting! Finally afew days ago we recieved a letter saying they are nearing completion of our application and had to fill in a form stating any changes of circumstances and saying where we were going to post our passports to for the visa's to be put in. It seems to have been going on for ages!. We have sold our house (just waiting to exchange and complete) and will be heading out to brisbane once everything is sorted. I have work lineD up with an agency in brisbane and we have a house lined up to buy in north brisbane. Hoping to be there beginning of june. Good luck to everyone else. you need plenty of patience if you are going on a skilled independant visa.A quicker option is to be sponsered by an agency which they can arrange really quickly and then to apply for pr when your there.

I'm only typing what my wife tells me too!
We downloaded the QNC Application forms on Saturday, and I posted them today ... what a soddin' week that was!
(Although we did have referee details etc done beforehand)
My wife found a solicitor (I believe in the street!) and twisted his arm (although that what she told me) to certify the documents to be copied, and I did my bit by doing an arduous 15 minute round trip walk to the Post Office this morning.
All we need to do now I guess is to sit back and wait for an acknowledgement from QNC? (We're planning to head for Brisbane on a LTBV, although we're probably going to run a PR Application as well ...

Hi everyone. I've been reading this forum on and off for about18 months but only just descovered the nursing bit d'oh! (I kinow it's fairly new).
Anyway, I'm currently an A&E Sister but am really looking forward to going over and being a nurse again instead of being in charge the whole time!
Off to the Sunshine Coast this year but when depends on house sale etc.

Hi
I'm Lucy and i'm a Critical Care Nurse and a Midwife specialising in high risk pregnancies. I've worked in Oz before in NSW, NT & SA and this time it's Qld in 2 weeks time (yippee) to Townsville. My marvelous agency have managed to get me a rotational contract between ICU and Maternity on a 50/50 split which should keep me occupied and hopefully not let me get itchy feet and try and escape on to somewhere else which has been a theme with me for a while

Re: Who is going to oz
Hi Nicki
My wife (or she will be on May 31st) and I are heading to Perth where she will work in Orthopaedics and we have had some positive feedback from the hospitals that we have contacted.
We are at the filing stage of the paperwork having recently had our medicals and although there are a few things to clear up, we should be able to submit our paperwork within the month.
Its a bloody long process and having the points system means we'll have to put the equity from our home down to gain the extra five points but having been there before - ITS REALLY WORTH IT.
My brother is emigrating to Brisbane and has been cleared but is still trying to sell his home before heading south.
Good luck with your efforts.
Paul

Hello,
I've only just spotted this bit of the forum!!!!
I was a community psychiatric nurse in the uk and have been in Brisbane for 3 months.
At the moment I am doing some casual work in a local nursing home, this isnt ideal for me, but my initial priority is being around to make sure my 5 year old daughter settles so the hours and location suit.
I've said this a few times on the oz forum but in case any prospective queenslanders have missed it, it will really help you when you arrive if you have a statement from HR stating how many hours experience you have as a nurse. Dont know about the other states but up here you arent payed according to grade or post reg years worked but have an increment for every 1976 hours worked!!! Without documentary proof of this you get paid as a newly qualified nurse, it makes a big difference!!!
Personally (I've enquired about a few jobs that I wasnt able to take due to the hours) I've found that UK post reg qualifications are recognised here, I was an F grade in the uk and have been encouraged to apply for level 2 posts.
Good luck to you all,
Michaela

Thanks Michaela,
I hope to be in Qld later this year and I will get on to HR asap!
Is level 2 equivalent to F grade? I'm not sure how the levels work out there. I'm also an F grade but was thinking of looking for an E grade equivalent while I find my feet.
Any advise gratefully received!
