Well after what seems like for ever we have finally got our Skilled independent visa and are heading to Oz.

We applied online 25th November 07
Case Officer assigned 30th April 08
Visa granted June 30th 08

It felt like forever and we just wanted to say thanks to this site as we wouldnt have achieved it without checking this site every now and then.

We are heading definately for Brisbane, maybe the Caloundra area, maybe Prince Charles Hospital in Brisbane as we are Psyche nurses who enjoy forensic wards. Havent applied yet for work thats next.

We dont know many people on this site but wanted to make some links with some ex pats in the area now we know we are definately going in a few weeks.

So any nurses in the area wanting to meet up and share some advice on wgere they work and what its like, drop us a line.

By the way, what do we do now - I guess tax numbers and property hunting.

Well done! Its a great feeling isnt it? For us, we just organised accomodation for when we got here, we have two teenage girls. The rest..... well, it just got sorted really. Tax file numbers, easy that took a week. Jobs a plenty, might not be exactly what you want but enough to get you started. Dont worry, for us, the hard part was getting the visa, everything else has kind of fallen into place. others havent found things go so smoothly, mind you. Again, well done and good luck for your future.
