UK Diploma Nurse in need of Australia advice.
Hi guys,
I'm a RGN DiplomaHE trained in the UK. I qualified in 2012 and have been working ever since.
My plan had been to move to Oz but the Degree changes kinda messed that up.
I was due to start a degree top up in January and aim to move to OZ within 2 years or so.
Work have offered to train me to a band 7 District Nurse by sending me on a one year BSc program called BSc (Hons) Community Health Care Nursing (District Nursing).
I really want to do it but my problem is, would this new qualification be classed as a top up to degree level? I have emailed AHPRA but they didn't really give me a clear answer.
Basically I'm stuck between pursing the top up degree and paying for it myself or taking this offer from my workplace to get the BSC in District Nursing, which I'm not sure will even help me get to OZ.
Hope that makes sense guys,
Thanks for any help,
Martin

If the qualification you have at the end of it is a Bsc then I believe that should be enough to satisfy the part of the registration process as far as I'm aware
From a trading point of view my diploma is topped up by Mentorship (15 credits) and my qis neonatal course. Looks like the course your place wants to send you on is also a qis pathway course so will have similar credits ( and you don't have to do a dissertation if you don't want the honours bit)

Hi I have the exact same qualifications as you mentorship and neonatal course and diploma in nursing. I'm just doing my AHPRA registration now already in Australia as my husband has a job that has relocated us. Did u have any issues with getting registered or was everything accepted? X

Hi can anyone please advise how to top up a diploma in childrens nursing to meet AHPRA requirements! currently 11 years paediatric experience in all areas but specialise in neonatal surgery and also have dialysis experience too. desperate to get to OZ but at the age of 47 all seems stacked against me at the moment.

Hi, I only have a diploma and just awaiting my registration. I think if your children's trained you have an advantage anyway. Did you do your neonatal course? I will keep you posted as I should hear the outcome very soon x

No you just apply for AHPRA if you already have a visa through your husband they will just need a certified copy of it x
