Sponsorship or WHV?
Hi everyone!
My boyfriend and I are going travelling in June 08 and will end up in Perth by October 08 where we will be working for 12 months before travelling home. I had a telephone interview yesterday with Fremantle hospital and they have offered me a job! I had planned to go on a working holiday visa though the hospital have offered to sponsor me. They were discussing this at the end of my interview by which point i was so relieved it was over and couldn't wait to get off the phone that half of it went over my head. I hadn't really looked into sponsorship as this hadn't crossed my mind. I'm sure she said something about it lasting 2 years and then applying for a permanent visa. I think they are trying to nursenapp me. I know that i can only work for the same employer for up to 6 months on WHV but i don't think that finding another job should be difficult judging by the response i had this time round. Can anyone tell me about sponsorship? and if it is applicable to my situation?
Cheers!

Hi Jane,
Just wanted to says congrats on getting your new job, thats half the stress taken away from you for a start. If I was you I would take the sponsorship as it gives you the opportunity to stay longer if you want to. It would be gutting to be really enjoying yourself and have to leave before you wanted to. At least with the sponsorship it allows you to stick around or not as the case may be.
Whatever you decide I hope you have a great time.

hello, with teh 457 visa you have to work full time so if this is not what you want then the whv may be better. you can change employers with the 457 if you get someone else to sponser you. ? work at freo on whv then could change to agency nursing?
good luck

Hi thanks for the responses! Working full time would not be an issue as this is what i'm planning to do anyway. I'm still a bit confused as to what sponorship would mean. For example is there a minimun time that i have to stay in oz if i am sponsored? Does anyone know any website with info about sponsorship? Can't seem to find anything.
