Default RNMH in NZ

Can anyone help me with this question. Is the RNMH qualification recognized in NZ? My sister(in the UK) is interested in emigrating, but needs to know if her background is sufficient. Thanks.

The RNMH (RNLD) is recognised here in NZ, but called a Pyschopaedic Nurse (PN). They don't generally employ PN's over here as they do in the UK. What you will find is that they may work in a specialist area, generally with mental health patients in forensic units, specifically working with intellectual disability (ID) patients who have committed an offence or who can't plead under the law. Specialist areas would include the Mason Clinic in Auckland as I know that they have just set up a new ID unit, and you may find some in both Wellington and Christchurch. PN's may also work in the community with ID patients and this is increasing due to new legislation in NZ. Hope this helps and if you have any other questions please feel free to make contact.

Thanks, Nick.
