Default Nursing - wages in Perth

Can any one help with nursing wages - what level would a registered nurse for 17 years be on?
Also does anyone what shifts are worked inPrivate hospitals in Perth?

Wages in Australia are governed by Awards - see here

I've moved your post from its original thread as you really weren't likely to get answers to a specific question like this on such a different thread

Pay rates for state run hospitals are available by clicking on this link and going to page 15
http://www.health.wa.gov.au/awardsan...ement_2010.pdf

No doubt the salaries for privately run hospitals are decided by the companies that run them.

This page also has some good info on it

Hi Jenn,

I work for a company that provide specialist Emergency Response personnel in Perth to the mining industry and that includes Registered Nurses. Depending on your background and ability to work on a mine site, and run a medical centre in the middle of nowhere, wages can vary from $40 - $60 p/hr plus Super (10%). Average to expect would be $45 - $55 depending on the client, site and roster. BUT this is all for FIFO (Fly in Fly Out) work and would generally be on a 2:2 roster or even 2:1, meaning you are away 2 weeks then back 2 weeks or away 2 weeks then back one week.

Happy to chat about FIFO in more detail if you want. Once you have say 3-6month mine site experience behind you you really wont have any trouble finding a job and we'd definitely be interested in anyone who is a Registered Nurse or Paramedic looking to get into FIFO work and is heading to Australia.

Cheers Emma.T

Hi Emma T

I'm new to this site and I've been looking around online for months about jobs in Perth. We are planning the big move for end Sept. I had been looking into nursing in the mines/FIFO a few months ago but its difficult to really know what its like by reading information off mining websites.
I am currently studying Health visiting here and the course doesn't finish until Sept so thats why we are waiting until then. My background is that I've worked as a nurse for over 5 years in Cardiac medicine for just over 1.5 years and Cardiac ICU for 3.5 yrs.

Really looking forward to moving, my husband an I are going to go on a 1 year visa as after alot of will we won't we's.. there wouldn't be the time to apply for anything longer.
My brother has just went back to perth today... he and his girlfriend love it, not to mention a bunch of our other friends who are over there working too, some in mines, some in construction/engineering jobs (unfortunately none of their other halves are nurses!!)

What is working in the mines like then Emma? I take it you are a nurse? I see you mentioned 3-6 month exp is preferred, is this always the case?...as I obviously have none over here!!
I don't think FIFO would bother me, 1-2 weeks isn't that long and if your getting 1-2 weeks off then surely that a bonus. My hubby is a building surveyor over here (laid off in the recession 2 yrs ago) an is eager to get back into that area, as i said the boys are working over there already an hopefully will be able to guide him in the right job direction an put in a few words etc.
if you or anyone has any advice or guidance on FIFO or any type of nursing then I would really appreciate it.

Thanks
B
