Nurses pay in victoria or nsw
Dear All,
Hope this finds everyone well.
Was wondering if any one could help.Looking at the possibility of moving to either melbourne or sydney areas. However i read there has been alot of chatter about the quickly rising cost of living in Australia.
Still trying at the moment to estimate what type of salary i could expect to get.
I am a dual qualified nurse (learning disability and paediatrics) with a Bsc(Hons) and 13 years experience, with 5 years in a junior managerial role.
Just really looking for an average so i can try to compare what i earn here and what i may earn there.
Thank you for any help.
regards.

I've just been offered a job in a hospital in Melbourne. I have 15 years post qualification experience, am a midwife and am specialised in neonates at sister level in the UK. I have been offered a grade 2 year 9 which is about $54,100 per annum and although this is less than I am earning over here its not at the same management level so a bit of an easier life for me. From what I can gather this is the top level of nursing salary in Victoria before you go into management.
There are also enhancements to add on like unsocial hours pay, plus they pay an extra 9% superannuation on top of that. I'm happy with it anyway, hope this helps

Level 1 in Victoria only applies to first year nurses. In other states there are 9 increments to level 1.
Basically you are talking about the lowest level for a registered nurse but on the highest level for that grade (which is based on years of experience).
To the OP....your UK experience and qualifications are irrelevant. They will only put you on a higher incremental level on the basic grade.
If you want a higher level job then you will have to apply (and compete) for it.
