Getting PR from within Australia
I qualify as a midwife next march but am already a qualified nurse with 11 months post-reg experience. Because it will undoubtably take yonks for my NMC registration to come thru and for my australian nursing registration to come through I was thinking of getting a WHV and doing a bit of agency work as soon as I finish my course next year.
What I wanted to ask is if I work for 6 months for 2 seperate employers in Aus will this go down as Australian work experience to enable me to apply for PR?

Re: Getting PR from within Australia
I worked as a nurse from end of Oct 2005 til September 2006. Then Left nursing in Sept 2006 do start my BSc midwifery course where I'm not employed as nurse ( I'm a student again). Plus I ultimately want to work as a midwife in Australia not a nurse.
I'm only thinking of doing the WHV because once I qualify as a midwife next year my UK registration will most likely take at least 2 months to come through and I need to earn some money and I would like to do so in the sun (plus there are NO nursing jobs where I live).
Points wise I fall short because I only have 11 months experience and I couldn't go on the sponsered migration visa because I'd be wanting to change professions from nursing to midwifery eventually and havn't got enough recent work experiene for PR.
So would working as a midwife during the last 6 months of my WHV help my application for PR?

Re: Getting PR from within Australia
There is no distinction between midwives and nurses in Australia....they are all registered nurses.

But they're different numbers on the ASOS list
Registered Midwife is 2324-11
Registered Nurse is 2323-11
Confused.

You can register as a nurse but still work as a midwife if you have the relevant experience/qualifications.
You can apply for PR on your nursing qualification......unless I am missing something
