Worth the wait....

Worth the wait....
After being in NZ for 3 years this coming August and 4 rental homes later, we are going to fulfill our dream of building our own house. We are officially land owners….. Our section has a view of the harbour. Just can't wait to have a home to call our own. We've now signed off the final plans for building consent and if everything goes to plan the build should start mid June (heres hoping for a good winter).
We could only have dreamed about doing this in the UK and we are so excited. The builders asked us what our wish-list was and we have managed to include all these into our home…
We still have our house in the UK which we are letting and will use some of the rent to offset the mortgage here until we sell it….whenever the housing market picks up in the UK
Our time here has had its ups and downs but this is where we want to be. We both miss our family and friends and hope to visit the UK in the not too distant future.

Hi Nukiwi,
Lovely to hear from you. That's fantastic news. View of the harbour as well eh? Some pictures would be great further down the line, so we can all be envious of your new pad.

Cool Bananas! Looks good.
I wish we were in a position to build our own home. I have BIG plans in my head . I even have the builder on standby . Him & me are just waiting for the lottery win but it seems to be eluding me

Good stuff! We're going back to the Shore soon, we spend most of our time down there so it was a decision we all made Can't wait to see pics of your build

Re: Worth the wait....
We have just had word from our solicitor that we have today completed on our section, so we now own a little bit of NZ
We had our consultation with the builder's colour consultant and after rethinking a couple of our choices, we are very happy with our decisions. Plans have been in with Council a couple of weeks now so we are just awaiting building and resource consents. Hopefully the build will start in about 4 wks
Just waiting for the cost of the upgrades to come through too as it seems we can't stop spending money.....oh well we've got 30 yrs to pay it back

Thank you so much. We never thought we'd get an opportunity to build our own home, so don't give up on your dreams
