Re: Worth the wait....
The house is progressing much quicker now. Doors and windows are in, roof tiles are on and bricklaying has started. We had our first walkround with the electrician to make sure we have enough sockets, switches etc and also the kitchen guy has marked out where the kitchen is going and they are now going to start making it
The bricklaying should be finished by the end of the week and then the roof linings go in. All the plumbing has been connected and the electrician will then do his stuff before the inner walls go in.
It feels much more like a home now and can't wait to see it finished....we have an estimate of mid-November but its slightly ahead of schedule so its before then. Soooo exciting.

It is amazing to see it go from just a piece of ground to a house... and then to a new home.

It's been an experience watching the different stages of the build as it's so different to the UK and of course goes up much quicker. It will just be so good to be owners of a house again and not tenants

Re: Worth the wait....
Your dream home looks amazing so far! I'm hoping I will get to do this in the future with my fiancee now I have just got my residency and saving lots of money.
Haven't done much research on this but it is cheaper to do this way instead of buying an ordinary house?
Cheers and good luck!!

Is a new build cheaper...well it all depends on where you build and the price of the sections (plots), also the design of the house and what you put in it. We had a wishlist of what we wanted in the house and we have been lucky enough to incorporate these into our house. We have blown our budget by quite a bit due to all the upgrades we have chosen so you have to be careful as it can run away with you. My advice would be, (once you are over here), is to rent first and find out what areas you like. We have been renting for 3 yrs now. We started off on the North Shore, then moved to Eastern Beach and now we are in Pukekohe . Go and view lots of showhomes and look at the prices of sections and then a builder will advise you of the best design to fit that section and then you can make it your own by adding and moving rooms etc around.
If you need any more information, I'll be only too happy to help
Here's a few more now the inner walls are up
