I don't know, I've only had two bosses here so far and they have been fine. I guess I've been lucky.

Yup, the couple of jobs I've had in NZ so far there's not been a great deal of difference in the workplace politics either in Britain or NZ. There'll be people you do like, people you don't like and people who's name you never knew anyway.

Some managers are nice, some are a-holes and some their mood and/or judgement turns on a sixpence. Ever had to play, 'guess the mood' with a boss before you speak to them some days ? Yup, it's the same in NZ. Well for me anyway.

Yep, they will get their revenge. Unfortunately that is not professional behavior. It would be much better to speak openly about the problem right away and solve it instead of gossiping behind people backs and getting rid of them as soon as the first opportunity presents itself.

Cry baby ;). I don't like gossiping of any sort but I think they are right to avoid confrontation, knife in the back is quick and quiet. Everyone get to move on without any kerfuffle.

Agreed with other posters on management not yet being seen as a profession.

yes...I've had to turn two down, and hubby is experiencing the same. I think it depends on the field you're in.

I was hanging on before I posted on the New Arrivals board. Hubby had his offer letter through yesterday and I have had a verbal offer just waiting for offer letter they said would send it through next week. We have to move quite fast so Essential skills visa...once we're there we'll get the residence visa under way.
So I think we should be there late July early August...not sure yet. Bit nervous about the weather as I haven't live in temperatures below 30 for a year:eek:
