Default Why are wooden sheds so expensive in NZ?

Sorry for this whinging post but I am just fed up with being ripped off by NZ retailers.
An 8x8 wooden shed ( delivered free ) in the UK £350 = $634
An 8x8 wooden shed ( delivery not free ) in NZ $2750 = £1518.
For the same bloody shed.

Its not like we don't have any trees here so why the extortionate price?
Then I started thinking about other NZ rip offs like paint.
And ready lawn.
And beer.

And...........

lawnmowers.
And registration for motorbikes.
And any veggies out of season.
And anything associated with the word "baby", or "house".
Shocking eh!

..... and dishwashers. OMG

not forgetting the premium added to anything with a merest hint of 'European' ingredients, styling or design.

From looking at the title of the thread, I assumed you meant houses.

Funny thing is I have just ordered 800 dollars of wood and an electric saw.
So when I buy the roof for it will have cost me about 1300 dollars.
What a bloody bargain.

Just checked that old Kiwi favourite trademe which apparently is always good for a bargain.

http://www.trademe.co.nz/home-living...-585331288.htm

Maybe not.

Why dont you just make and sell them then, if the markup is that good and seemingly accepted?

...... out of old offcuts & rustled wood from the bush.

Am thinking of several wee sheds around here. Must see if I can sneak a couple of pics.
