Hi All

has anyone used Whites? they have come in with the cheapest quote of £5k for a 40ft container which will take our household stuff and my small car.

That's not a bad price. Same costs as what we had in a 40 footer but without the car using PSS.
All I would say is get a few quotes from different international removers.
The cheapest is rarely the best as they usually just cut corners to give you the lower price. We found that asking their competitors how the other company can afford the lower price they will usually be more than happy to tell you honestly what they do to cut corners and price.
In general they should all be a similar price.

I used Whites (Portsmouth) when I moved my stuff over in May. They were very good and the quote was considerably less than the Anglo Pacific one I received. AP even said I would need more container space but Whites managed to fit it in a 20ft container.

I did have a couple of small breakages, but the stuff did move 13000 miles so it's hardly surprising. I've had breakages when moving in the UK. I found their agents in Wellington, The Moving Company of Lower Hutt, outstanding. They even rebuilt our flat-pack stuff for us.

We used Whites of Telford & their partner NZ Van Lines, Auckland.

From our experience WILL NOT RECOMEND THEM.

Had to replace all our White goods, container spent that much time going from port to port onloaded and off loaded it must have been banged pretty hard.

Whites provided their Insurance, did not provided the right cover. Paid extra for specialist packing high valued items, these were thrown into the bottom of packing box then items dropped on top.

Still cant find TV remote............

NZ Van Lines just as bad. OH had to keep watching what they were doing, got feeling that if you took eye off them, some stuff would have gone missing.


Some items were held back for MAF Inspection, which items were not returned / lost. Sounds trivial, but the items cannot be replaced.

Took months back and to with their insurance company. Got a fraction of what items were worth. We were advised to value our items as if they were to replaced in NZ, but they changed the rules and every thing was based on UK prices, and comparing every thing as 2nd hand replacements that could be bought on EBay.


Over all, I would not recommend them, but that's just our experience.

Like you say it's personal experience. We had PSS in UK and NZ Van Lines up here to the Far North . NZ Van Lines were totally fantastic, very careful, helpful and cheerful. Would thoroughly recommend them!
