Initially my answer would have been yes, but now we know more about it, we're really excited to be going there and are more than happy to settle there, at least until the eldest completes Secondary school ( she's just about to turn 13).

We didn't choose Blenheim, it was chosen for us by my DH new company. He's a construction site manager, so very much the sort of industry that you go where you have to. We already know that he could be moved anywhere on South Island during his contract, not necessarily with us following, so from our children's point of view, it's important that we settle in. A small community such as Blenheim is not such a shock to our system, as at the moment we live in a village on the edge of a small market town

Northamptonshire

Worse places to be, but we've seen a big decline in the area in the last five years. There's been lots more housing, lots less countryside to enjoy around us, crime rates are rising year on year and to top the lot we've got a crap Council, both County and District

Where are you??

We went in 2005 for a month & then DH went in November on his own for 2 weeks worth of interviews.

Funny where we've ended up, cos it's the one place we didn't visit that had always appealed to me, but thought it was not practical as far as the availabilty of construction work in the region!!!

Marlborough=NZ's best kept secret!

People can still afford to buy a house here.
You do not have to worry about locking your doors.
Along with Nelson, it has the most sunshine in NZ.
It has the lowest unemployment in NZ.
The scenery is spectacular!
Outdoor lifestyle.........

Shhhhhhhh!!!!!!!! Don't tell anyone!

Oh my fairy friend you'd be welcome!
We are nearish paihia, kerikeri and kaikohe - they sort of form a love triangle ( or fairy ring!) round us!

I went over to Rawene today on the Hokianga to visit a friend - that's another lovely place.

We chose the BOI and love it. Do need to see more of the north island south of Rotorua and of course the south island, though. But we wouldn't move ever again.

So - Whangarei. Help me out. What do we know about it?

We are looking with all our fingers crossed at Welly, for the same reasons as people on here - culture, big city but not too big city, lifestyle etc...and now I have a potential job offer in Whangarei.

All I can tell from websites is that it is tourist heaven and beachworld. This is where everyone goes in the winter, isn't it? Does that mean it's insanely expensive for cost of living?

Anyone know anything else about it?
