What car?

What car?
I'm not a car snob, I just like a simple car that is cheap to maintain. In the UK we've had Vauxhalls and currently have a Zafira. Am I better to have a Holden in NZ or go for something Japanese?
Also I've never driven an automatic - are manuals easy to get hold of in NZ? They're pretty rare to rent.
Thanks for any advice.

Most cars on the road are secondhand Japanese imports. Get one of those.

You can get some really cheap Japanese cars. Toyotas just last forever. We've just bought a 3litre Windom - 15 years old, goes really well and cost us $2k. Try trade and exchange online or trademe. If you're in Auckland try the Ellerslie car fair on a sunday morning
