Visiting from Canada
Hi.
Hope no one minds me butting in but;
Normally hang out in the Canada section, but we are coming over for a few weeks hol's in September and October. We are going to be based in Auckland ( the north shore ). We like to travel light and tend to travel with just carry on if it is at all possible, then we just buy the stuff we need and ship it home by parcel post at the end of the trip.
So I have a couple of questions.
I have heard that NZ is very pricey for clothes, just stuff like jeans and t-shirts casual stuff , I got a pair of mens Levis for about $70 Canadian which is about $85 NZ is this comparable?.
All-so is there a store something like,
http://www.canadiantire.ca/home.jsp?site=WebStore
or some where I can get an inflatable bed of some kind, my wife seems to be under the illusion that I may have a beer or two on the odd night and then it is alleged that snoring goes on, never having heard this I have my doubts any way a get away sleeping place is required.
Thanks, Forrey.

The Warehouse and Kmart probably would do you for most things you should need. Quality and long lasting products are not the name of their game so I doubt you'd be wanting to pay good money to ship this stuff back home.

As for Levis, you'd be looking at starting at $110 for basic 501s and anything upwards from there. We have 'Just Jeans' (this is there Aussie website) as we're very sadly lacking in terms of availability of NZ sites to browse for prices.

One of the few things I find cheap are Levi's, I normally buy 511's and they're cheaper than the UK.
Don't get me started on beer, groceries and Internet though!

got my Levis summer jean last year and it was over $150. Its just basic stuff nothing fancy. think that was the most expensive jean I've ever had in my life... prices rip-off.
I usually get Just Jeans kids stuff when on sale so usually about $12~15 ish.. but they are rubbish, aren't they..........

Thanks, looks like we will be hauling some luggage then . Mind you that could mean more money in my pocket, not having to fork out for a new wardrobe for someone .
