Default Useful (and maybe not so) Tips - Kiwi style

At the risk of being inundated with Viz-esque one liners I thought we could share any useful tips and tricks that have come accross while living over in NZ.....

I'll start with one that might work ......

Suncream is not good for your car's paintwork, particularly in the NZ sun. If it is left on then we all know what happens - yep, it seems to stick in the paw print shape to the bodywork like the brown stuff to the proverbial blanket.

A Kiwi mate suggested getting it off the paintwork using your own skin's natural oils.......back of the hand or a smear from the side of the nose seems to cover it or help to wipe it off.....although the print sometimes comes back....maybe my acne-infested schoolboy skin is not greasy enough? who knows......??

Don't leave your car in a field of cows - cows will lick the car and they must have terribly rough tongues or something as they left the car all scraped.

Waste of pee.

A full frontal assault of pee should only ever be directed at your lemon bush which sits by your front gate. Pick a time of day when the neighbours may not be passing by.

Lardyl I had the same problem with my car.

When invited to a Kiwi's "Bring a Plate" evening - don't just take a plate. Take a plate by all means - but make sure it has some food on it.

If you work in IT, make sure you pronounce "router" so that it rhymes with "outer"

The correct pronunciation I think, on the basis that the first ones were invented by the US Department of Defense.

Saying 'Rooter' sounds terrible.

also rooting means something totally different down here.
I told a guy my missus and i were rooting about in the wardrobe.
"must be a bloody big wardrobe" he said

DrL prescribes DIY lessons..........
watch your "plunging" though........

there is a good reason why we Pomms and plenty of other english-speaking countries don't slum our pronunciation with the Yanks......

Still, got to laugh at a Kiwi giving lessons in pronunciation.......and of vowels too......

I take it you tell your workmates that you have found a new "rauwt" to work??
