Hi please can anyone advise me on the Universities in NZ, it's for my Daughter starting Sept 2017 she's into her sports. Can she get a grant/loan?

Re: Universities
My understanding is if she is not a resident/citizen she will have to pay international student costs as well as a visa to study

To get a student loan she will have to be a NZ citizen or resident. Whether she will need to pay international fees will depend on the institution. I suggest you search for sports degrees and check out their entry requirements.
Bear in mind, if she comes to NZ and then returns to the UK she may get trapped in the 3 year residency requirement for English unis - you need to check that aspect if she's not sure yet.
You could also look at scholarship options - not an area I know much about.
Waikato is known for its sports quals: Sport and Leisure Studies: University of Waikato

If she's a permanent resident and living in NZ she will pay domestic fees not international. It will depend on her visa status.
NZ Student loans will be an issue.
"To access a student loan or allowance you have to have been entitled to reside indefinitely in New Zealand under the Immigration Act 2009 for at least 3 years and have been living in New Zealand for at least 3 years"
For the same reason my kids can't go to Uni in the UK despite having UK passports, but if they were living in the EU they could!

Re: Universities
We came on a LTBV and children had student visas. That was fine for school but would have made Uni education International fees. Luckily we managed to get resident Visa just before my daughter went to Otago Uni. However she can't get any kind of student loan or assistance until she has been Resident for 3 years - LTBV time does not count.
Saying that, the fees are a lot less than I thought they would be. Good old Bank of Mum!

Re: Universities
New residents can and do gain grants even though they have not been here for 3 years.
as for the UK unis, it depends how long they have been out of the country
