Unaccompanied/excess baggage?
Hello!
My partner and I are moving to NZ in early December, and have a bit of a dilemma as far as packing goes. We're using Pickfords to ship our stuff, but because it's going to be a bit cold when we leave, we'll have a mix of winter and summer clothes to take with us. We're flying with Thai Airways and have a 10 day stop-over in Thailand, so are wondering what the best options are in terms of using unaccompanied baggage services.
Should we just suck it up and survive with one jacket, one jumper and one pair of jeans?
Are we able to buy unaccompanied baggage with an airline that we're not travelling with?
We've had a quote from the shipping company that Thai Airways use of £140 for an extra 20kg worth of stuff (though we're not sure we'd have this much stuff anyway).
We're just not sure what to do.

They do sell clothes in NZ you know
Before anyone jumps in about shopping in NZ, yeah I know. I've just got back from a shopping spree in London, so I'm able to compare.
Since you're considering paying nearly $300 in shipping, why not spend it on clothes when you get here, if you need them.

Re: Unaccompanied/excess baggage?
thanks for all of your answers! parcelmonkey seemed like a go, until we figured that we'd end up paying about $100 customs clearance on the other side. we've just decided to harden up, live out of minimal winter clothes, carry heavy stuff with us on to the plane, and spend the money sending unaccompanied baggage would've cost us on new clothes when we get there - if we need to.
