Truck Driving info wanted.
I am thinking of exporting a truck to NZ and work for myself because of the exchange rate and poor wages for truck drivers it is cheeper to export a second hand truck than buy one in NZ.
My lad talks to people all over the world on various forums and a NZ trucker said that i would need a doudle drive unit but i cant think of a reason why as the 44 ton limit is the same as UK and we dont have double drive units exept for very heavy haulage and in holland its 50 ton on a tandem unit so why was i advised to get a double drive unit if i export one.

No real idea but there are some gravel roads, might that make a difference? Perhaps your lad could try and ask the guy who made the comment??

they have a different way of paying road tax in nz. its called as far as i remember r.u.c or road user charges and basically the more axles on the road the cheaper tax. quite a lot of 8 wheel tractor units pulling quad axle trailers and also units pulling two trailers.
