Travel Consultant - Long Term Skill Shortage List
Hi,
OH has more than 10 years experience in Travel Industry but a management qualification. Do you think he will get a work permit without a job offer since this position is on the Long term Skills Shortage List? What are the documnets we have to submit and where?
Many thanks

Heya,
Its all about your points id say. You can fill out the online expression of interest at the nz immigration website without submitting it. Just set up a log in and fill out the online form.
Your OH will get points for having the needed skills but maybe not for his qualifications and lack of job offer.
See how many points it esitmates you have then take a look at the pool to see if they are taking people with that many points.
Although it can be a bit confusing to navigate the website is pretty useful
Hope that helps!

Yeah it seems temporary work is for job offers only. I had a quick look at

A work permit and/or work visa will only be issued if you have an NZ job offer.
It is called a work visa if applying from the UK.
A work permit if you are already in NZ.
The work visa/work permit are not the same as applying to migrate. The work visas and permits are issued with start and end dates . One might apply for a work visa and/or permit for just six months up to around three years.
If your skill is on the long term shortage list , then you will need to show that your qualifications & work experience are relevant to your job offer.
Along with form NZIS 1015 [ Go to NZIS website and then 'forms'], you will need to supply
A copy of the NZ job offer showing terms , conditions and length of employment.
Certified copies of your UK qualifications
Evidence to show timely work experience in the skill/trade which relates to yur NZ job offer.
Other than that, an NZ employer could still offer an overseas person a job but if its not deemed as being on the Shortages Lists then the NZ employer would have to prove that there is no NZ resident for the job. They do this by showing evidence of adverts placed etc. There is an NZIS form for them to complete alongside their evidence. If satisfied NZIS issue what is called an 'approval in principle' and the NZ employer can then employ the overseas person.
For your partner , they will need to apply using their own form. They would apply under 'famaily' and will have to show that they have been in a stable long term relationship with you. Provide marriage cert or household bills etc. They would be granted an open work visa/permit on the back of the main applicants visa/permit. This means that they would be free to work at anything in NZ .
When it comes to emigrating to New Zealand it is all about points. Thats a whole other ball game & the first step for that is to do a points assessment via the NZIS web site to see how you stand.

Re: Travel Consultant - Long Term Skill Shortage List
Thank you all for the advice.
We have already submitted our EOI with 110 points and no job offer.
Tried our luck but as it is going now doesn't look anything good is coming our way soon.
Anyway, we are hoping and waiting..................
Thanks again
Mari
