Thumbs down Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA)

I can't think of a valid reason why negotiation details are not to be made public. The way I look at it, given the issues allegedly being discussed, there is no reason to keep negotiations secret after all we generally believe in democratic principals. If there are other issues being discussed I definitely want transparency.

I want transparency but I doubt we will ever have it. From a rather cynical and jaded viewpoint I think big business now rules and politicians are just scrabbling for who can make the most personal money out of it. I'd like to think the politicians are trying to prevent the businesses having quite as much power as they are seizing but I'm not sure what they can do to prevent it. When a company has enough money to bankrupt a country by continuously forcing it to defend itself in court or by withdrawing trade from it I'm not sure what you can do to alleviate the situation.

If I can physically get to a protest about this I will be protesting.

I agree. There is no valid reason for the full details not to be disclosed given how much this may affect NZ. I tend to be quite cynical in the main and generally view keeping things from the public as something to be suspicious about.
