Things are changing, I've noticed a huge shift in the 3.5 years since we arrived.

Football rules over rugby's fatal flaws | Stuff.co.nz

It does get very tedious hearing non stories about the bloody ABs constantly.

How there is no atmosphere at rugby games or the majority of sport in NZ. No singing, no banter with the ref/linesperson, no shouting abuse at the players...hoping the Kiwis game in November is better.

There needs to be a crowd to have a chance of any atmosphere. The crowd levels at a lot of these Super15 games is an embarrassment for a so called 'Rugby Mad' nation, the stands are almost empty.

I'm hoping the League NZ v Eng match will be a bit livelier too.

I have to lower my expectations. any organised event is a lot less and a lot smaller than I expect but I guess that has a lot to do with the size of the population.

Apparently there's an election next week.

Judging from general office conversation and interaction with folks outside of our house you wouldn't even know it. Apart from the so-called and frankly unwatchable 'debates' on TV and smarmy party political broadcasts from the National Party, who would know? It seems nobody talks about these things and we notice a distinct lack of interest or opinion on any current affairs. Bizarre!

Oopsie, what the heck was I thinking ... let's not talk about boring grown up serious stuff ..... lets get back to drinking wine and talking about the ABs again.

I have noticed I appear to have chucked out our voting letters.

Oopsies. The volunteers at the polling booth will not be happy.
