Surf Life savers
We are so proud of our daughter who this weekend qualified as one of New Zealands beach life guards. We have a whole new respect for them and thier work as we have found out so many things about what they do, how much time they volunteer, how many they save and just what thouroughly nice people they are.
Our daughter is at Papamoa surf club, and has met some great friends, shes always had a love for the sea, and coming from cwll, has spent lots of time in it, but she now has a much bigger knowledge of the sea and feels much more confident. She's only 15, and joined the club in Nov, shes trained hard for it along with quite a few others, 1 other English boy, they have kept up and beat sometimes the kiwi's, so they are rightly proud of themselves. Its a great thing to get the kids in to, they can train to be lifeguards from the age of 14, but can't get paid until they are 16, they also get a first aid certificate that can earn them credits at school, as its a recognised qualification, so its all good. Her next challenge is to master the knee boards and the IRB.
She'll kill me for putting this on, she is 2nd from left on bottom row.
