Pies are cheaper :D

Buying and keeping a horse is much cheaper

A 1.5L bottle of coke is $1.55 and a 1.5L of pepsi is $0.75....cheaper :D

If you buy two 200g jars of Nutella chocolate spread at New World today they are cheaper than one 400g ;)

Eating out, petrol and cars & houses
Everything else when you earn dollars is dearer IMO. :(

Cheaper:
Houses (factor depending on where you compare). Council tax ($ for £). Water. Parking (free except in middle of big cities). Launcing a boat/windsurfer (free everywhere). Petrol (just). Road tax. Stamp duty (none, so that's £10k I saved when I moved). Capital gains tax (none). Beef, esp good fillet steak. Monkfish(!). Beer (just). Wine (just). Game fishing and shooting.

We're not taking our furniture out there as we're going to be renting our flat furnished and friends of ours out in NZ have said to stock up on as much flat pack from IKEA as possible as there's nothing like it over there.

So if you can handle assembling a bit of flat pack it might be worth considering. :scared:
