Default Specialist Nurses NZ

Hi. My wife and I are looking to move to NZ in approx 2-3 years time, granted eveything works out. I am a NZ citizen but been out of the country for a larege number of years (currently aged 38 in June). My wife is a specialist Cardiac Nurse (aged 36 in Sept). She is worried about her NHS pension that she has been paying into for past 14 years. Is there any specialist trained nurses that can adivse on the type of availability of work, salary and what the pension schemes are like for healthcare workers in NZ??

There is nothing like the NHS pension (a pension specifically for the public health system only) here in NZ you have the option to pay into Kiwisaver (a national pension or find a private pension scheme). See kiwisaver link below.
http://www.kiwisaver.govt.nz/

You can if you decide to relocate to NZ transfer your NHS pension to NZ, but you have to weigh up the pros and cons for you.

I am sure someone will be along soon to tell you about jobs, wages etc

My wife has just suffered her first heart attack and was in both the cardiac care unit at Waitakere hospital and underwent surgery at the cardiac unit at the North shore hospital both are really terrific places and I'm sure that they would fall over themselves to get their hands on your wife, as i believe that specialist nurses such as your wife is are in great demand. This is only my opinion, but I'd suggest just writing or emailing them if you can and asking direct.

Thank you for your concern. She's doing well and taking things slowly
