Default The Silver Fern Visa

Following their election victory last year, some of you may be aware that the new National government pledged to introduce a policy known as the "Silver Fern Visa". I know that it has not become official policy yet, however I think it is the crucial part of their new strategy. I have made a few enquiries, but have heard nothing regarding an implementation date. Has anyone heard anything?

Thanks for that, it is much appreciated. I had a basic idea of what it was, I just wondered if anyone had any insider information as to a possible launch date? I have heard that consultants give occasional hints!

Perhaps, but could it have been an election promise, those are not always kept

Thanks for all the replies guys. I am looking to emigrate to New Zealand, preferably the South Island, in the next few years. However, if this policy is introduced, I may look to move sooner rather than later.

UPDATE:

I went back and asked:-

"I am extremely surprised that you say that there are no plans for this visa currently. Some of the official publications seem to imply that it is in the final stages of implantation. See http://www.national.org.nz/files/200...ckgrounder.pdf and search for "Silver fern".

What would you say regarding implantation of the "Entrepreneur Plus" visa if I asked? I believe that this is almost ready and should be available around November this year.

Are both these Visa's "Head and Head" so to speak, or is the "Entrepreneur Visa" taking the lead?

Regards"

The reply =

"As far as we have been advised these policies are not in place yet.

We are generally trained for new policies about 1- 2 months prior to them being implemented.

As we have not received any training for it yet I am unable to comment on them.

All policy changes are announced on our website under 'latest news'

Kind Regards,

Alannagh
Customer Service Officer
Department of Labour"

So it would appear that it MAY happen but not within the next two months.
