Well we have been in the application pool to migrate as skilled migrant now for nearly six months and unfortunately no job offer. Im a gas engineer here in the uk 11yrs experience. I have contacted the PGDB and my temporary gas license is all ready to go so I can work in NZ although my work has to be signed off by a craftsman gasfitter them the rules! So after talking to friends and family and work colleagues. One in particular who used to live in NZ back at the start of the noughties. We thought rather than reapply as a skilled migrant we would put the house up for sale and travel across to see if I could gain employment and then my partner could look for work once we were settled. So I suppose I just thought I ask if what we are doing is crazy!!
I know its not going to be easy but I just dont think many employers will take the risk and offer me a job while im in the uk. I did have a telephone interview a while back and the company in question was taking on but due to a extremely slow application process with the PGDB (dont ask!) I missed the last recruitment but Ive kept in contact with this company and Im waiting to hear something back in Aug so you never know.

You have to ask if the worst comes to the worst how long are you prepared to sit in NZ without jobs?
Not earning will eat away any money you bring from your uk property sale pretty fast and if you decide
its not for you or there are no jobs you'll be buggered for returning to the uk with little or no capital
to get back on the proerty ladder.
Hard decision to make and i'd have thought having to get your work signed off will not be attractive to employers.
Can you train up over here? have you looked into that as a way of increasing your prospects?

I came over as a skilled migrant with no job offer three years ago.
I'm an aircrat engineer, but AirNZ were laying off. Just told immigration that I was confident I could find work. Went doorknocking once we'd settled in, and did exactly that.
Do it, try it, you may regret it, but you'll deffo regret not having a shot.
I'm now slowly pursuing aircraft quals for the future, but I'm more than happy where i am now, making harvesting gear for the loggers.
Oh, for those who don't like logging, enjoy your plastic loo roll

if you have to resort to asking strangers on a forum then you'd be better off staying put.

I am looking at moving to somewhere in Asia, what I need is somewhere cheapish, with good broadband to do my job and sunshine!
I am also single and keen to get involved in the dating scene so I was wondering which countries had an abundance of single Asian women who still adore the western man!
Thanks guys!
p.s. I do not mean prostitutes either.

Last time I 'exposed' danjones1 (ooooeeer) , I was criticised for digging over his history Wilester, so be careful!
Apparently, it's not fair.
Tell us something about yourself dan, oh man of mystery.... what inspires your astounding insights on such a wide variety of subjects?
