Short term rental

Hello Everyone, some great posts on here which are really interesting and informative.

I unexpectedly find myself moving to New Zealand in May (a very long long story!!) My husband has booked us in a hotel in central Auckland for a couple of nights but ideally we are looking for a rental in easy commute of the CBD for say 4-6 weeks whilst we interview/start work.

I would really appreciate information on short term rentals. We will be using public transport so ease of commute is key!

Many thanks.

Hi there and welcome to the forum. :)

I was just reading this thread, which, if you go to the second page seems to suggest that short term rentals aren't easily available.

However, someone my know more about it so we'll see.

Enjoy B.E. :)

Hi,

I'm in a similar predicament. Most rentals I found on Trademe were not interested in less than 6 months rental. I have offered more money per week for the shorter term and inconvenience, but have not had any takers so far. Remember that with most rentals all bills and internet etc is on top.

Internet is a must for me and you cant take out a subscription with most providers for less than 12 months, so mobile phone internet is the only other option.

In the end you are left with 2 options. The first is to rent a holiday accommodation. More expensive, but you can negotiate for a lower weekly rate if you agree to rent for a number of weeks. The advantage is that everything is included usually (bills and internet linen etc).

The other option is to use short term corporate accommodation. These are usually 1 and 2 bedroom apartments that are serviced, but include everything.

Good luck.

I gather flip has no contract term broadband. Can't tell you whether they are any good. Have a google. When I signed up to Slingshot there was no minimum term - I think it depends on the package.
