Shipping small amounts - what's best??
Hi all
Just wondered if anyone could give me a bit of advice about shipping in small quantities?
We're moving to CHCH next week and will be leaving everything we want to take with us with relatives until we get settled and can ship it over. We thought we could just share a shipping container since we didn't think we'd be taking that much, but now we've pretty much packed everything, we've only ended up with about 10 medium sized boxes. When we contacted a company for a shipping quote, we were told that was too small an amount.
Does anyone know companies that ship smaller amounts? Or whether we can send stuff by air even? Finding it hard to find out this info on the net
Thanks
Holly

Hi, we are in West Yorkshire and are shipping a container to Tauranga, nz in february, we will have some room for your boxes, maybe we could beat your best quote, send me an email or private message if you are interested.

We used Pickfords for a container - very good. However as we spent 6 weeks in the UK before we left we had clothes mainly which we didn't want to take in our suitcases. We decided to try Voovit (found on google). You order boxes (more boxes the cheaper it gets) and they are delivered. You then fill them and they are collected. It is alot cheaper than anything else we could find.
Our stuff has not arrived yet, but so far the process has gone well.

I have used Sevenseas - each box can weigh up to 40kg. My final shipping was 12 boxes and a golf bag and that has cost me GBP470.00. That includes delivering boxes, bubble wrap, tape and a marker pen and then collecting them, total loss insurance, shipping via sea (you can pay for air freight but a lot more expensive) and then delivery to address in NZ.
They are somewhere on the ocean at the moment, but so far so good!

Another vote for SevenSeas.
I shipped 16 boxes door to door UK-NZ with no problems at all

Hey. Thanks for everyone's responses. I feel much more in the know now!
Just had a look at sevenseas and their price seems to be pretty all inclusive which would be a weight off our minds! They also include a months storage before shipment so that would solve where we'd put stuff before we leave!
Looking good so far!
